I heard that Baughman Township has a 3-year contract with North Lawrence Fire Department. Baughman Township has one-year contracts with all fire departments - ending Dec. 31, 2026. The North Lawrence Fire Department contract allows for 2 more years only IF a levy passes. Without a levy, the contract ends on 12/31/2026.
Will my taxes increase if my tax valuation goes up? Voted millage is subject to the property reduction factor. This means that the tax collected by the Township cannot collect more money than is voted on – even if your property value increases during that levy period. It will, however, decrease if your valuation goes down during that levy cycle. The only added value to the Township is from the 1.75 mill tax on new construction.
